Club 13: Recycle, Beijing’s version of Green Day, headlines this party hosted by Tongsu Music Magazine. They’re supported by punkers Demerit and the wonderfully-named, Larry’s Pizza. RMB30. 9pm.
D22: Hands down Beijing’s best indie band PK14, conserving the lo-fi ethic at the core of an oeuvre ranging from stripped punk to emo wailing. Backed up by Casino Demon and Candy Monster from Shenyang. RMB30. 10pm.
Mao Livehouse: Drunken, Rolling Stones-inspired antics are in store whenever Joyside takes the stage. They’re part of a huge line up of local bands including Tookoo, one of the most versatile rock bands, highly-regarded Snapline, Casino Demon and the acquired taste, Misandao. RMB40. 8:15pm.
Star Live: For the Love of the Guitar. A tribute to guitar greats, featuring Xia Yan, Yao Lin, Cao Weiguo and more. RMB 30-40. 8pm.
What Bar:The Waker. A female-led rock band with gothic influence. RMB 25 (includes a draft beer). 9:30pm.
Yugongyishan: French National Day Party. Shaka expat rock band performing everything from Franz Ferdinand to “M”. Special guest dances will raise the temperature of “The Gong” on the night. Free massages and heaps of giveaways. RMB 30. 10pm.
Vineyard Cafe: Live acoustic set. Woodie Alan features Chinese guitarist and dobro master Woodie Wu and American singer/guitarist Alan Paul. As usual with our live music events, bookings are strongly recommended.
East Shore Live Jazz Cafe: Liu Yuan, who opened East Shore, is often referred to as “Cui Jian’s former saxophonist.” Make no mistake, he is one of China’s most accomplished jazz hands in his own right. He’s accompanied by China’s best pianist, Xia Jia, Huang Yong on bass and Izumi on drums. 9:30pm. Reservations recommended.
